Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I,Ref-Brooklyn/Staten Island) announced today that she will host a free breast cancer screening event on Saturday, November 3 in Brooklyn with the American Italian Cancer Foundation. The screening consists of a mammogram as well as a clinical breast exam. Women who have not received a mammogram in the past year, are age 40 – 79 and reside in New York City are eligible. Patients must book an appointment in advance.

“I am pleased to host such an important event for women,” said Malliotakis. “Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women. In fact, 1-in-8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Early detection is key to improving the chances of surviving this deadly disease. I encourage any women who are eligible to schedule a breast cancer screening. It could save your life.”

The Mammogram Bus will be at 7408, 5th Ave. in Brooklyn from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, November 3. No co-pays are required and deductibles are waived, but insured women must provide their insurance card at the screening. This is a free event. Un-insured patients are also welcome.
