Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis (R,C,I, Ref-Brooklyn, Staten Island) announced that she will host a free breast cancer screening event on Saturday, May 11 on Staten Island. The screening consists of a mammogram as well as a clinical breast exam. Women who have not received a mammogram in the past year, are age 40 – 79 and reside in New York City are eligible. Patients must book an appointment in advance.

“I am pleased to host such an important event for women. With an average of 1-in-8 women being diagnosed with invasive breast cancer during their lifetime, the best form of prevention is early detection to improve the chances of surviving this deadly disease. I encourage all women who are eligible to schedule a breast cancer screening. It could save your life,” said Malliotakis.

The Mammogram Bus will be at South Fin Grill, 300 Father Capodanno Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10305 on Saturday, May 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No co-pays are required and deductibles are waived, but insured women must provide their insurance card at the screening. This is a free event. Un-insured patients are also welcome.
