Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis said, “Bill de Blasio should follow the lead of NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill and boycott this year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade. By marching in the parade, Mayor de Blasio is turning his back on all law enforcement in our city, especially the men and women of the NYPD. Honoring Oscar Lopez Rivera, is inappropriate, especially when your own chief law enforcement officer views him as a terrorist. I am thankful that Commissioner O’Neill had the courage and integrity to speak out and Bill de Blasio should listen closely to what the commissioner said.”
