Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis announced the latest in a series of clean ups that she is holding in areas of her district heavily affected by litter. She will be co-sponsoring a cleanup tomorrow, Saturday, September 7 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Sand Up Gals, a local community service group of volunteers focused on environmental initiatives like park and beach clean-ups. Volunteers are asked to meet in the Fort Wadsworth campground parking lot.
Malliotakis has often partnered with different community groups and service organizations for her clean ups of beaches and parks in her district.
The National Parks Service will be providing clean-up tools and protective gear, so all those wishing to join can call the office of Assemblywoman Malliotakis at 718-987-0197 to ensure they bring enough supplies.
“Whether it is in Gateway Park, Miller Field or Fort Wadsworth, our clean ups provide an opportunity to meet your neighbors, work as a team and do something positive to keep Staten Island clean and enjoyable for all,” said Malliotakis. “The reality is there is only one Earth and we must each do our part to preserve her for future generations. We welcome all volunteers, including those seeking school community service credits. The more the merrier.”
