Storobin: “I expect Malliotakis to defeat de Blasio in my district”

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis was endorsed today by the former New York State Senator David Storobin. Senator Storobin, who emigrated to the U.S. at age 12 and held the distinction of being the first Republican to ever win in a district fully located in Brooklyn’s southern neighborhoods of Brighton Beach, Sheepshead Bay, Flatbush, Midwood and Gravesend. He also held the highest political office of any Russian-born person in the United States. Senator Storobin called Assemblywoman Malliotakis, “the type of Mayor our city desperately need.”

Senator David Storobin said, “I’ve known Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis for over 7 years as an elected official and a personal friend. I am happy to endorse her for Mayor of the City of New York because she is the only real Republican in the race for mayor and will be they type of Mayor that New Yorkers want and need.

“As a daughter of immigrants and a first generation American, Nicole Malliotakis understands the hopes and dreams of so many New Yorkers. Her parents also showed her the hard work it takes to run a successful small business in our city and that life experience has made her a champion for the small businesses immigrants create and build in their effort to attain the American Dream.

“Assemblywoman Malliotakis is also a strong opponent of high taxes; she voted against tax and fee increases 297 times, saving taxpayers a total of $20.3 billion. She also voted for tax cuts 62 times for a total of $9.8 billion.

“I know that Assemblywoman Nicole Malliottakis will fight for good schools for all our children and safe streets in every neighborhood. I urge the every community and all New Yorkers to vote for her in the Republican Primary and in the November election. I fully expect that she will defeat de Blasio in my district!”

Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis said, “I want to thank Senator David Storobin for his endorsement and his kind words. Victory for my campaign will come by building support in neighborhoods across the 5 boroughs, like in Brooklyn’s Russian Community. We will create a coalition of voters that are sick and tired of the downward spiral our city has entered and together, we will make Bill de Blasio a one term mayor.
